Getting your Classroom Robot Ready!

It is the beginning of the school year, and you’re getting your classroom all ready not only for your students but for your learning objectives throughout the school year. This forethought includes your room design, your processes and routines, your resources. We thought we’d share some best practices that educators have shared with us over the past couple of years:

1. Resources: Dash, Dot, and Cue like their “stuff.” The good news is that they play best with simple, everyday objects that you can either get donated or buy quite inexpensively. Painters tape will be your best friend to outline mazes, shapes, letters that the robots can explore. Then students can use household items like paper towel tubes, cups, and LEGOs to design unique attachments for the robots or create obstacle courses and games. 2. Funding: With the list of resources, comes the need for funding! Our most popular blog article ever laundry lists all sorts of available grants and funding. 4. Turnkey Activities: Don’t forget that Blockly, Wonder, and Cue all have in-app content: puzzles, challenges, and tutorials to name a few. Consider creating a poster where kids can track their progress through these scaffolded pieces.
