3 Steps to Registering Teams for the Wonder League Robotics Competition

Sep 10, 2017

It Just Got Waaaay Easier!

(Video updated on September 13, 2017!)

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had to make some rapid changes to our registration process, as we discovered that many coaches are working with numerous teams! We know that time is precious, so we hope these changes reflect our respect for all you do. Thanks to those of you who have registered already. We’re thrilled you are joining us!

On Sept. 13, we streamlined the registration process . If you are unsure whether you’ve registered correctly, please complete this short survey and look for an email confirmation.

To register your team(s), follow these three steps:

STEP 1: Complete the Wonder League Robotics Competition Registration Survey — http://bit.ly/2wTGAVo (*updated Sept. 13). Begin the survey today to register your team(s). You can start the survey and skip questions if needed.

Remember to click SUBMIT on page 2 of the survey to receive an email with edit link.

Make sure to hit SUBMIT on page 2 (even if you haven’t answered all the questions), so that you will receive a confirmation email containing an edit link — check your junk/spam folder if you don’t receive an email. Earmark this edit link and use it to add more teams or to revise team information over the next couple of months. Remember, you have until Dec. 31 to register all teams via this survey! We will remind you. This survey is also found on our WLRC site landing page.

STEP 2: Create a teacher account on Edmodo (it’s free). This year, we will be sharing all resources via Edmodo. Edmodo is a communications platform that allows continuous communication between us at Wonder Workshop and you, the coaches. Plus, as coaches, you can post best practices to share with one another from all over the globe! Simply go to www.edmodo.com, click on JOIN A GROUP, and type in a code:

  • 82kphg for the ages 6–8 Coaches’ Cohort
  • 3p7g9u for the ages 9–12 Coaches’ Cohort
Go to www.edmodo.com and click on JOIN A GROUP to create a new account easily.

Make sure to choose a TEACHER ACCOUNT when prompted, even if you are a parent! You will be able to join both Coaches’ Cohorts if you have teams in both age brackets. See the Coaches’ Guide for some tricks and tips on using Edmodo.

As of 9/13, each coach only needs 1 Edmodo account! Period.

If you already have an Edmodo account, just use the above codes to join the appropriate Coaches’ Cohort(s). Check your email for a confirmation from Edmodo; once you’re logged in, you will see a pinned post from Wonder Workshop at the top of the feed.

STEP 3: Dig in! You can find all sorts of resources we’ve shared already by first clicking into your GROUP, and then accessing the FOLDERS to see all the shared materials:

STEP ONE and STEP TWO for finding the shared FOLDERS content.

In the coach-facing Content folder, you’ll find the Coaches’ Guide, which details this year’s competition. Read it thoroughly and pose any lingering questions to the Coaches’ Cohorts on Edmodo.

And remember, Mission One will be released on Sept. 18! More about submitting mission solutions and assignments soon. Thank you for registering your teams for this year’s Wonder League Robotics Competition.
