2018 WLRC Honorable Mentions

In May, we just announced the two $5,000 STEM grant grand prize winners and the rest of the Top Ten Teams for our 2017–2018 Wonder League Robotics Competition (WLRC). These top five teams in each of the two age categories, 6–8 and 9–12, wowed us with their critical thinking, thoughtful planning and reflections, and overall creativity. What dynamic teamwork! These Top Ten Teams deserve all the well-earned accolades as they topped more than 7,100 teams from all 50 states and 63 countries this year.

A year ago, we also began the tradition of also honoring teams that stood out to us in unique ways! As we vetted and scrutinized the piles of submission content — code, journals, photos, diagrams, and videos galore — we made notes of teams that were outstanding in notable ways.

Congrats to this year’s Honorable Mentions for the WLRC:

  1. Artistic Achievement: The RockBots from San Francisco, CA, took creativity to the next level. From their hand-painted grid mat, to their personalized hanging planets, to their costumes, the RockBots showed their artistry and ingenuity with each brushstroke, dab of glue, and hand stitch. Their masterful XX took their final presentation to the next level!
